About the LEAPS S5 Parents' & Carers' Information Session
Thank you for taking the time to access our LEAPS S5 Parents’ & Carers’ Information Session online resources (below), which we have put together as an alternative to the event we unfortunately had to cancel.
These resources are intended for parents and carers of LEAPS-eligible S5 students. If your son or daughter is in S5, is LEAPS eligible, and is aiming for higher education at college or university, we hope these resources are helpful to you. (We know some students have moved up a year group slightly earlier than usual in some schools, so just to say that where we refer to S5 here we mean those who started the school year in August 2019 as S5.)
You are welcome to watch each of the recordings/presentations in order, as outlined in the Introduction, or we have provided time codes with each recording if you are looking for specific information. Please note, this information is valid as of May 2020.

In our LEAPS Presentation (clip length 18 minutes 28 seconds), you will hear about the process of applying to Higher Education study as well as an overview of the support LEAPS offers.

University & Local College Contact Information
In this recording (clip length 4 minutes 6 seconds), you will hear from our university partners. Part of their role is to support you with any queries you have about their institution.
We recommend contacting universities and colleges directly if you have any queries that you are unable to find the answer to via their websites or prospectuses. The Student View
In The Student View (clip length 22 minutes 28 seconds), you will hear from current university students who volunteer with LEAPS about aspects of their own student experience.

SAAS & Student Funding
In the SAAS & Student Funding Presentation (clip length 7 minutes 10 seconds), you will hear a brief overview of student funding for Higher Education courses.
You will hear about tuition fees (time code 00:01:20), bursaries (time code 00:02:07), student loans (time code 00:03:26), the nursing and midwifery student bursary (time code 00:04:43), grants (time code 00:05:35) and other sources of funding (00:06:15).
