                                                Pre-application interview and enquiry service

The Pre-application Interview and Enquiry Service is designed to help you make a realistic, informed selection over courses and universities, as well offering reassurance and building confidence.

                                                1:1 Interviews

Between August and October, you'll receive a 1:1 Interview from a member of our team (or one of our university colleagues). Don't worry - these are not like job interviews, but a chance to chat through your UCAS application and get valuable guidance during the early stages of the process, including course options and places of study. After seeing what courses and unis you are interested in, our interviewer will give you an indication of the likelihood of you receiving unconditional or conditional offers. It's also an opportunity to discuss your UCAS personal statement and any relevant experience you might need for your chosen degree subject. All in all, a very useful half hour spent.

The sessions take place in school (you'll be assigned a time by your teachers) and lasts approximately half an hour.

                                                Pre-Application Enquiries
Sometimes, we'll submit something we call a 'Pre-application Enquiry' to certain universities on your behalf. We do this where a student’s S4/S5 performance suggests he or she is ‘borderline’ for a specific course or university. If we decide to do this for you, we'll contact higher education admissions tutors to find out the academic conditions (‘grades’) that you would be set if you were to submit a UCAS application to that particular course. They will then indicate the likely conditions to us, which we pass on to you via school. The result of this Pre-Application Enquiry can help a student to decide if they have a realistic chance of meeting the conditions and therefore whether they should use up one of the 5 UCAS choices on the course.
NOTE: we don't do this for everyone and all courses/universities, but where the interviewer deems it would be useful or necessary. We'll let you know at the 1:1 interview if we are likely to do this for you.

If you get a Pre-Application Enquiry slip back in school and you'd like more explanation, please contact us.
