Thurs 27 August, LEAPS Transitions Course Induction Session, Old Medical School

Please meet at the Meadows Lecture Theatre, Old Medical School, University of Edinburgh at 15:00. The event will finish at 17:00.

We are also looking for two volunteers who can arrive at 13:00 to help signpost arriving students. If you volunteer for this earlier shift, you do not need to stay until 17:00 if you would prefer not to.

Any volunteer from any university can take part! We are just looking for friendly and talkative volunteers who can welcome new high school pupils onto our course.

LEAPS Transitions Course Welcome Session. The LEAPS Transitions Course is a Bridging Programme that S6 LEAPS Eligible students take part in as part of their S6 timetable to support their transition into university study. This Welcome Session aims to provide students with all the information they need about the course, for the LEAPS team to gather student details and to give students a taste of what is to come after the summer.  

Volunteers will be asked to guide Transitions Course students around the University of Edinburgh campus (alongside their tutor) as part of an orientation task.  

Volunteers will also be asked to support the LEAPS Team to deliver a social session with the students to encourage conversations and take part in varying light-touch (and hopefully fun!) tasks to get them talking to each other and asking general questions about university as well helping to guide students around the building.
